Talkback androids screen reader is continually evolving and improving with every update. This continues with the latest update to the android accessibility suite along with the March system update. The update introduces multi finger gestures along with voice commands for Talkback, adding the braille on screen keyboard and a new and improved Talkback menu. Below is a list of all the previous and new gestures you will find for Talkback.
One finger gestures
One finger swipe left goes to the previous item.
One finger swipe right goes to the next item.
One finger double tap selects the selected item.
One finger swipe down then up goes to the next rota setting.
One finger swipe up then down goes to the previous rota setting.
One finger swipe up goes to the next item of the selected rota setting IE the next word or heading.
One finger swipe down goes to the previous item of selected rota setting IE the previous word or heading.
Two Finger Gestures
Two finger tap silences Talkback.
Two finger double tap plays and pause playback and answers and ends calls.
Two finger triple tap will read from the next item.
Two finger swipe up. scrolls up
Two finger swipe down scrolls down.
Two finger swipe left scrolls left.
Two finger swipe right scrolls right.
Three Finger gestures
Three finger tap opens the Talkback menu.
Three finger double tap will copy text.
Three finger double tap and hold will cut text.
Three finger quadruple tap will paste the cut or copied text.
Three finger swipe left selects the previous rota setting.
Three finger swipe right selects the next rota setting.
Three finger swipe up selects the next item of the selected rota setting.
Three finger swipe down selects the previous item of the selected rota setting.
Four Finger gestures
Four finger tap practises the Talkback gestures.
Four finger double tap opens the talkback tutorial.
Four finger double tap and hold will dismiss the next talkback gesture.
Angle gestures
Swipe down and left goes back.
Swipe up then left goes to the home screen.
Swipe down then right opens the Talkback menu.
Swipe up then right opens the Talkback menu.
Swipe left then down opens the search menu.
Swipe left then up opens the app switcher.
Swipe right then down opens the notification menu.
Swipe right then up opens the talkback voice commands.
All the mentioned gestures can be changed or customised to your choosing apart from the two finger scroll gestures.
