Hello and welcome to the February newsletter. We have had a busy January and have a lot of Groups and Activity’s planed for this month ( see below). We are very interested in finding our about your views about our services and how we could improve them or add to what we offer. The Scottish Accessible Tech Centre
You can contact us to book in for free expert support in sight loss and technology. You can come into the centre and try out new devices, we can help you get the most out of your devices, we can fix most equipment that is not working properly, and we are always up for a chat with Tea, Coffee and Cakes. Home Visit Service.
One of our tech experts can come out to your house and provide advice and support with sight loss and technology. We can bring out different types of equipment for you to try and we can help set up and fix any devices that are not working properly. This service is free to anyone with sight loss.
Helpline.
We have set up a Helpline that anyone can call to chat to one of our tech experts. This number can be called during normal working hours. You can also call this number to arrange a training session. See below.

Over the phone training or video meeting training.
You can call the number above to arrange a one-on-one training session with one of our tech experts. With this we will book you in for a 30-minute session, here you can find out about what tech might be suitable for you, get training on tech that you are already using and even just have a nice chat. We are even able to help fix any equipment that might not be working properly. These sessions can be repeated as often as needed. We can provide these sessions over the phone or by video meeting such as Zoom, MS teams, FaceTime, Google Meets or Skype. These sessions are free to anyone with a visual impairment.
TripleTapChats
Our TripleTapChats run on the Zoom Platform. We will be hosting them on Wednesday the 9th and 23 of February 2022 from 13:00 until 15:00. This is a general chat and a good way to get help and advice from others with a visual impairment. To participate in this chat email Fraser at Info@TripleTapTech.org and he will send you an invitation a few days before the meeting.

The Gardening Chat
We have set up a new Group Chat for people with a visual impairment who are interested in gardening. This group will be on Thursday the 3rd of February and Thursday the 7th of March at 13:00 on Zoom. Here you will be able to talk about your amazing garden and what you have done to make it accessible for your visual impairment. To join email Fraser at Info@TripleTapTech.org to get you invitation. You can also Email us photos of your Garden and Plants to Share with the group.
Tech Talk
We host a monthly Tech Talk on Zoom covering different areas and devices from assistive to everyday technology. This is a great way to find out about different devices and tech. This month it will be on Wednesday the 16th of February 2022 from 13:00 and should last no more than an hour. This month we will be showing how to use NVDA to navigate around Windows 10. NVDA is a free to use Screen Reader for computers running windows. To participate in this Tech Talk email Fraser at Info@TripleTapTech.org and he will send you an invitation a few days before the meeting.

The Tech Drop In.
On Thursday the 17th of February 2022 from 13:00 until 15:00. We will be holding The Tech Drop In. Here you can come into the Scottish Accessible Tech Centre at The Renfield Centre, 260 Bath Street Glasgow and get help with any tech that you are using. Please email us at Info@TripleTapTech.org to reserve your place for a visit. You can also remotely join us on Zoom at this time for our experts to answer any questions you might have. Accessible Gaming
We have created the Accessible Gaming section of our website in which we are continually developing and adding to a fantastic resource for Accessible Gaming. Here you will be able to find out about the accessibility built into different gaming devices and how to make many different games accessible for people with low and no vision. We are also looking for the visually impaired community to add and create content for this fantastic resource, this could be reviewing games they have played or how they have made a system of device more accessible.
Accessible Gaming Groups.
Falkirk Accessible Gaming Group.
Join us at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre for the Accessible Games Club. Here you can get information from our tech experts and visually impaired gamers on how to get the most out of your games. You will also meet other similar gamers with whom you can game with. We will have different devices at each session and clearly explain how these devices are accessible. Glasgow Accessible Gaming Group.
Join us in the Scottish Accessible Tech Centre at The Renfield Centre, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4JP for this gaming group. Here you will be able to play on a great range of consoles and other devices, we will be holding multiplayer competitions on different games and our tech experts will be on hand to offer any advice. This group is for anyone who is interested in visually impaired gaming. To Join email Fraser at Info@TripleTapTech.org.

Fix Up Tech
If you have any old devices or tech that you do not use or need then you can donate them to us. This could be an old phone that is hidden at the bottom of a drawer or a e magnifier that is just gathering dust. We will then fix up the device and for a small donation to TripleTapTech we will pass it on to someone who might benefit from it. If interested in this, then email Fraser at Info@TripleTapTech.org
Strathclyde Country Park Tandem Cycling Group
in us in partnership with Cycling UK for a gently cycle around Strathclyde Country Park with a specially trained pilot. You can also relax afterwards with a hot meal or tea and coffee. To join email Fraser at Info@TripleTapTech.org
